Elopement Inspiration | Colorado Wedding Photography

Going to the mountains is going home...
— John Muir

This was one of my favorite shoots so far this year.  During the winter months in Colorado, things tend to slow down a bit in the photography world.  This is a prime time to either go into a rebrand mode or to keep the creative drive going and set up styled shoots during down time to create new and fresh content to share.

I teamed up with a few amazing individuals to set up this "Southwestern Boho Styled Elopement". Bret (the "bride") worked at a bridal shop so she was able to connect us with the proper vendors to make this happen.  Hunt and Gather Rentals styled and supplied all the of the decor for the shoot, with a few of the items from her own wedding.  Not to mention there was guac and sopapillas, so that's a win right there.

After gathering detail shots, I took Bret and Sebahstian close by to Deer Creek Canyon Park in Littleton to get a few portrait/formal shots.  The sun was just about to set, and in February, it gets cold quick once the sun goes away so we were hustling.  The downside of sunset winter light, even though it's beautiful, is that it only sticks around for maybe 20 minutes at the most.

This was my first styled elopement shoot and it was definitely a learning experience.  All in all though, I am very happy with how the images turned out and it gave me a good feel for what I want to do and what I can improve on in the future to maximize the intimacy of elopements.  Thanks again to Amanda at Hunt and Gather Rentals (www.huntandgathereventrentals.com) all the girls at A&Bé Bridal shop, along with Bret and Sebahstian for making this shoot come to fruition.
