Weekend backpacking in Holy Cross Wilderness. The week leading in I was feeling really stressed out and in a rut creatively. The hike in total it was around 4 miles in. Trails featured streams, small cliffs, majestic meadows and multiple lakes once you arrived at the summit. It was fun to get out and backpack, since I hadn’t been in ages. The whole reason we went was Abigial had to shoot a few product images for Biolite. When the sun finally went down we tried shooting at dusk and the headlamp wouldn’t turn on. Laughing ensued and we proceeded to improvise and shoot anyways. Sleeping at 11,000 feet is always beautiful. The silence, the bajillions of stars and that tiny adrenaline rush in the back of your mind being alone out in the mountains. When the next morning arrived, I sat peacefully on a rock overlook and watched the world waking up for the day. The stress was gone and I came away with a few images and memories that I really appreciated. The power of getting outside and experiencing something or somewhere for the first time does wonders for the soul.
